No road trips for this year so far. Been quite period so far. Couple of short rides to Ooty, Coorg. And finally am on a road trip. Not to forget Make Your Trip in March this year.
And finally am on going to be on my motorbike. Tonight I pack my bags and head to Chennai on KSRTC bus. Tomorrow after brief check-up we leave in the night by train to Delhi. Our bikes would travel with us. From Delhi we ride to Leh via Manali. The tentative plan includes Nubra Valley. Once back in Delhi.
Am riding down to Bangalore through Jaipur, Udaipur, Mumbai, Pune.
Looks like a good road plan??
In my experimentations with cooking, the next item I have found out today is egg curry. Initially I thought it was tough that too with no machine for grinding. But in the end I realised its possible even without one.
Ginger garlic paste
1 or 2 onion (depending on size)
1 or 2 tomoatoes (depending on size)
2 Green chillies
Red chilli powder
Method of preparation:
1. Boil the eggs and peel of the shell.
2. Cut the onions and tomatoes and chillies into small pieces.
3. In a pan heat oil and fry the eggs split into two till it becomes golden
4. Remove the eggs once fried and add cut onions, tomatoes & chillies. Add red chilli powder little and garam masala. Stir the contents. Add a spoon of ginger-garlic paste and a spoon of salt. Mix the contents. Fry till onion becomes brown in colour.
5. Once fried, add the eggs and half a cup of water.
6. Allow the mixture to boil.
Egg curry is ready to be served with rice or rotis.
This incident happened on 17th July 2010. After fixing new tyre & tube for my cycle I was pedalling towards Malleshpalaya through inner roads from Marthahalli.
There was a motorbike which turned in and after 50meters he skid & fell down. Few others ran towards him, I pedalled faster. Gave him water from my bottle, cleaned his wounds and some to drink. Few others picked up his bike, made him sit down, enquired.
Apparently a beetle was on the road and he did not want to run over it. Applied brakes and too much of front brake made him skid and fall down. Lucky for him, and it is good to meet such guys who care about. His intention was really good.
The worst part of the story was there is a house next to the point where he fell. The guy came outside saw what happened and after few seconds went inside and locked the door.
But there were other good people around. One guy even said few nice words and thanked GOD that nothing big happened.
Anyone travelling from Bellandur towards Whitefield cannot take a U-Turn at Marthahalli, but need to go further down the road and can turn near the defence office. Which is near Kartik Nagar on Outer Ring Road. After taking a U-Turn, most vehicles (cabs & motorbikes) move on the wrong side of the road take another U-Turn and follow the path towards Chinnapanahalli.
I was coming from Chinnapanahalli on my cycle and was waiting at the outer ring road for on coming vehicles. This motorbike guy cannot wait for me to move so comes ahead of me. He is on the wrong side of the road. Due to his mis-judgement, he cant move forward since my cycle is blocking him.
He: Cycle peeche karo (Move your cycle back)
Me: Kyon, yehi rastha hai kya (Why, is this the way?)
He: Mai honk kiya suntha nahin (I honked you dont listen)
Me: Tu wrong side me aake mere ko boltha, ch***ar (You come on wrong side and tell me)
He: *says something*
Me: *already angry at his disrespect for cyclist* Kannada artha aagatha, gaandu (Do you understand kannada, ass)
Everyone on the road is watching us and he leaves.
The point all these guys fail to understand is in their hurry to save time and impatience for 5seconds, wastes 5minutes for everyone.
All the cabs that have corporate employees (who are educated) never force the drivers not to drive on the wrong side of the road. Not to forget educated people who themselves drive/ride on the wrong side of the road. When we have educated people who follow closed eye approach, things will never improve.
So much for the civic sense learnt during school days.
But these are the same people who when they find someone to talk to, complain about traffic, people on the wrong side of the road, cyclists. Or write about it in internet/blog/facebook/twitter. When they actually have to confront people on the road, “why should I”, “These people are indecent, I cant talk with them”.
The expectation from Christopher Nolan is high considering the success of Dark Knight and his past movies. This movie does go beyond expectations that you would have imagined or dreamt of.
While there is tendency to compare this movie to Matrix or related movies, Inception is above them. In terms of story, editing, background music, acting, suspense, confusion, and the concept.
Inception is about planting a dream in a person and to control his/her brain at the subconscious level. This would make you influence him/her. Under this influence you can define what you want him/her to do and also get information from the person. Sedation is required to take the brain into the level of dream. How far can one go or to which level of dream can one be led into. If a person dies in this dream world then his/her mind would remain in the subconscious level forever in reality.
Whether you are in the real world or the dream world is what you should figure out. The important rule is never to create images out of memory from real world. You are the architect of your dream and things can change shapes in this world.
Imagination and dreams are different.
Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) a thief who cannot get back to America is a thief. He gets into the subconscious mind of people during their dream state and steals valuable information. He is offered an assignment where he has to create and plant a dream into the mind to destroy an empire. If he achieves it, this would be the perfect crime. And if he does achieve it, its his passport to get re-united with his children.
How he does this and what happens, to what level the mind is taken to, you got to watch on the big screen.
The personal life of Dom Cobb would leave you confused.
You will not and should not get distracted for the full length of the movie. Even a minute of distraction would make you lose the flow.
While being attentive to the dialogues and action sequence, one would not pay attention to the background music. Try managing to get the music score by Hans Zimmer.
Watch out for streets turning upside down and the zero gravity fight sequences.
This is a definite watch movie for the overall package. I would rate it as 9/10. I would be watching it again soon.
Watch the movie in big screen and not in pirated copies.
Put in Indian terms, the world is a “Maayaa”.
This dish is something that has been there on my mind for quite sometime. Finally I decided to make it today. This is the first am making dal fry and happy it doesn’t taste yuck!!
3 spoons of toor dal
2 small onions
2 small tomatoes
2 green chillies
1/4 sppon Ginger-Garlic paste (or ginger & garlic)
1/4 spoon jeera
1/4 spoon mustard seeds
1/4 spoon red chilli powder
1/2 spoon salt
Wash the dal and boil it till it becomes soft.
Cut the onions, tomatoes and green chillies into small pieces.
Heat oil in a pan and to this add mustard seeds and jeera. After few seconds when it gets fried, add cut onions, tomatoes, green chillies. Mix them. Now add red chilli powder and ginger-garlic paste. Mix them nicely. Add salt and fry the mixture till they get fried.
To this add boiled dal and little bit of water. Boil the mixture for few seconds.
Add coriander leaves for smell and taste.
Now dal fry is ready to be served. This can be mixed with rice and eaten. To accompany this dal fry I made potato fry. This combination is deadly. Try it.
Sarjapur Police Station towards Attibele on Sunday 4th July 2010 was a close shave for 4 of us. Tata Sumo driver is unable to judge the distance nor the speed. He is trying to overtake a truck and we are cycling in the opposite direction. If we hadnt stopped nor pulled off the road, we would have been hit badly.
This driver just did not know the speed of the truck. He did see us way ahead and from the time he started to overtake and still kept riding.
For vehicles which dont move by manpower all it takes is a short break and again the speed is back to normal. There were two times when a truck was behind us and each time both the truck drivers slowed down, changed gears and moved out of our way. Both the drivers did not honk or show their power. That is called decent driving and discipline. Just by size and speed you cannot try to overrun everyone. Remember the David Vs Goliath story.
Am still trying to figure out which is the best way to fight these guys.
On 3rd July while cycling near Varthur, a Qualis driver overtakes but realises he has to turn left, puts the indicator so that no one can question him and turns left. Absolute disrespect for other vehicles on the road.
Just wondering when will they realise that it takes a second to wait for cyclist to pass through and turn but days if it results in an accident.
